Fred Jackson on LeSean McCoy: 'I'm not going to make it easy for him'

Looking to dramatically revamp their offense, the Buffalo Bills traded for 2013 rushing champion LeSean McCoy in March.

Under new head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Bills are expected to present a run-heavy offense, in which McCoy will be a vital component.

Fred Jackson, a longtime stalwart running back for the Bills, begged to differ Wednesday.

"They say (LeSean McCoy) is going to be the bell cow, but I'm not going to make it easy for him," Jackson told reporters

Jackson rushed for 525 yards and two touchdowns on 141 carries last season. The 34-year-old also recorded the best receiving campaign of his career, catching 66 passes for 501 yards, both career-highs.

Buffalo's defense ranked near the top of every statistical category last season, and Jackson knows that the offense will have to be better if the team wants to snap the NFL's longest active playoff drought.

"With the offensive firepower we've brought in ... We've got to keep up with our defense," Jackson said. "When you spend the type of money that we have on offense ... We've got to make it worth it."

The Bills now have two running backs capable of handling a large workload. Jackson is known for his resilient style of running and may have to adopt that approach all year if he wants to usurp McCoy as the feature back.
