Adrian Peterson eligible for reinstatement beginning Wednesday

Bruce Kluckhohn / USA TODAY Sports

Wednesday marks the first day Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is eligible to be reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, but no resolution to the former 2,000-yard rusher's case is expected in the immediate future.

Peterson and the league remain locked in a fight over his discipline stemming from 2014 allegations of child abuse. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the earliest the case can be heard in the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals is October.

Peterson is expected to be reinstated before then and will be immediately eligible to play for the Vikings, but it's likely the NFL will seek to fine him several game checks.
