Lions trade George Johnson to Buccaneers for swap of picks

Tim Fuller / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to a deal that will see restricted free-agent defensive end George Johnson move to the Buccaneers for a swap of late-round picks.

The Lions will receive the Buccaneers' fifth-round pick in exchange for Johnson and Detroit's seventh-round selection.

The Buccaneers signed Johnson to an offer sheet earlier this offseason, but the Lions disputed the Buccaneers' offer. It remains unclear what part of the deal the Lions had a problem with.

An arbitrator was set to resolve the matter within 10 days, but it appears the two teams have decided to come to a resolution themselves.

Johnson played 16 games for the Lions last season and recorded six sacks.
