Report: Seahawks, Russell Wilson making little progress in contract talks

It could be a little while longer before a long-term deal is reached between the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks are in discussions with Wilson, but have made little, if any, progress, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. This contradicts an earlier report from ESPN's Terry Blount, who said the two sides were nearing a lucrative extension.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider told reporters at the NFL owners meetings in March that, while he would like to get a new deal done before the start of the season, there's nothing imminent on that front

Wilson has a base salary of $1.542 million in 2015, the last year of his rookie contract. Reports have suggested that Wilson's new contract could be fully guaranteed, though NFL Network's Ian Rapoport cautioned that talk of such a deal is premature.

One thing that could stand in the way of a lucrative contract extension is Wilson's baseball career. The 26-year-old is a prospect in the Texas Rangers' system and said in a interview with HBO's "Real Sports," set to air later this month, that he would like to continue playing two sports.
