Peterson acknowledged this past weekend that he's "a diabetic," the Cardinals' official site reports. In a subsequent statement, he said, "While I did have abnormal sugar levels, I've been working with doctors on a strategic meal plan and workout routine that are reversing these symptoms. I'm grateful that this has been reversible for me and my health is back to normal."

Analysis:

After inking the richest deal for a cornerback last summer, Peterson was rather sluggish during the first month of the 2014 campaign. On the receiving end of numerous targets, defensive holds, and pass interference calls, he didn't start to turn it around until October, which coincided with the discovery of his medical condition. With that knowledge, he still finished the season with 50 tackles (43 solo), seven passes defended, three interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and one sack in 16 games. His search for a happy medium regarding his conditioning and diet should place him back in the IDP elite for next season.
