RG3 insists he and Jay Gruden are on the same page

Perhaps no player would have benefited more from a change of scenery than Robert Griffin III this offseason.

Instead, the Washington Redskins kept him around and now RG3 must win over head coach Jay Gruden's approval. That proved to be a difficult task in 2014, as the young pivot was benched for inconsistent play.

Griffin is trying to put last season behind him and feels like he and Gruden can work together to improve this season.

"We both want to win," Griffin told JP Finlay of CSNWashington. "Jay came in here with the plan to help develop me as a quarterback, and help this team win. He wants me to go out there and be the quarterback he knows I can be, and I will be. My job is not to characterize or judge him as a coach."

Griffin added that he needs to get back to fundamentals.

"What I've really been focusing on is doing the ordinary, so I can do the extraordinary."

It was clear at times last season that Gruden wanted to see more from his quarterback, but Griffin feels like their relationship will be more positive in 2015 and holds no animosity toward his coach.

"We're going to make sure we work together in a positive way to make sure this team is successful," he said. "We're going to win. That's all we can do. Players play. Coaches coach. I respect that. Take last year, learn from it, move on from it."
