The Oakland Raiders released defensive tackle Antonio Smith on Tuesday.

The move isn't a surprise. Smith, who signed a two-year, $9-million deal in 2014, played 16 games for the Raiders and registered only three sacks and a forced fumble. His 20 combined tackles were the fewest he put up since 2005.

Now 33 years old, Smith's future in the league is likely as a backup.
