Packers, B.J. Raji agree to reported 1-year, $3.5M contract

After sitting out this past season due to a torn bicep, Green Bay Packers defensive tackle B.J. Raji will once again be forced to prove himself on a one-year deal in 2015.

The Packers agreed to terms with Raji on Tuesday and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting it's a one-year, $3.5-million contract. Raji can earn as much as $4 million if he hits all his incentives. 

Raji originally returned to the Packers on a one-year, $4-million deal last March before suffering the season-ending injury in August.

Though his talent would suggest he deserves a better deal, the 28-year-old likely would have struggled to generate much interest on the open market, coming off both the lost season and a difficult 2013 campaign.

Another inexpensive, short-term deal is low-risk, high-reward for the Packers, and allows them to continue gambling on the talent that saw them select Raji with the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
