Report: 49ers to meet with Hakeem Nicks

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly set to meet with free-agent wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.

Nicks, a six-year veteran, played the first five seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants before spending the 2014 campaign on a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

Though injuries have seen his production tail off of late as he has recorded less than 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past three seasons, the 27-year-old's experience and proven ability would make him a solid addition to a 49ers team that desperately needs to add talent at the wide receiver position.

With San Francisco having opted against re-signing Michael Crabtree, at least for the time being, Nicks would likely be in line for a starting role if he could manage to stay healthy.
