The Chicago Bears have selected receiver Kevin White out of West Virginia with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Bears new general manager Ryan Pace decided to pass on talented edge rushers Vic Beasley and Bud Dupree to grab the second receiver off the board.

Many believe White is the best receiver in the draft and he provides embattled quarterback Jay Cutler another weapon, in addition to Alshon Jeffery, on the outside.

White will serve as an immediate replacement to three-time Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall, who the Bears traded, along with a seventh-round pick, to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick.

Strengths

  • Climbs the ladder to attack the ball at its highest point using his size and frame.
  • Excellent vision once the ball is in his hands and does a good job of reading blocks in the open field.
  • Good at adjusting routes when quarterback is flushed outside the pocket.
  • Does a good job of shaking press coverage and gaining separation from corners quickly.

Weaknesses

  • Needs to improve the sharpness of his crossing routes. Can round them off at times and has difficulty avoiding traffic.
  • Average blocker. Doesn't continue to move his feet after engaging with defender.
  • Struggles to break tackles and pick up yardage on short passing plays like hitches and screens. Needs to make more tacklers miss.
