AFC North Notebook: Browns not interested in 'Hard Knocks'; Mike Brown still high on Dalton

Baltimore Ravens

Matt Elam needs to step up in 2015. The former first-round pick needs to become more productive according to head coach John Harbaugh, who said, “He’s got to become a good player.”  

League outlaws tactic used by Patriots in AFC playoff win. The NFL changed a rule that allowed the Patriots to line a player up outside the core formation. Will it become the Ravens rule?

Ravens have handful of mid-round picks. With the Haloti Ngata deal and a couple compensatory picks, the Ravens now have six picks in Rounds 4 and 5. 

Cincinnati Bengals

Devon Still's daughter Leah in remission. The heartwarming story is looking like it will have a happy ending, as Leah Still's cancer has gone into remission.

Mike Brown is still high on Andy Dalton. Despite the perception that Dalton has plateaued, owner Mike Brown sees good things from Dalton, particularly if he's surrounded with better talent.

Re-examining the role of Vontaze Burfict. With the tackling machine recovering from microfracture surgery on his knee, questions remain about just how much he'll be able to contribute for the Bengals in 2015.

Cleveland Browns

Jimmy Haslam refutes report about trading franchises. After a seemingly absurd report that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam could just swap franchises and own the Tennessee Titans, Haslam issued a denial.

Alex Mack on cautious rehab regimen. The Pro Bowl center is working his way back from a broken leg suffered in Week 6. He is taking his time and not pushing the rehab, expecting big things next season.

Browns not interested in "Hard Knocks." After speculation surfaced that the Browns were the front-runners to appear on the HBO program, the team came out and stated they're not interested.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers re-sign Darius Heyward-Bey. The speedy wideout spent last season with the Steelers and will be back on a one-year contract. The former No. 7 overall pick is buried on the depth chart, but will compete for a spot.

James Harrison coming back to Pittsburgh. After deciding between following Dick LeBeau to Tennessee or returning to the Steel City, Harrison made his choice and signed with the Steelers.

Tomlin's extra-point idea gaining steam among owners. With changes likely coming to the way extra points and two-point conversions are administered, Tomlin's suggestion has been made into a formal proposal.
