Steelers re-sign Darrius Heyward-Bey to 1-year deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey to a one-year contract Thursday.

Heyward-Bey first joined the Steelers on a one-year contract last April, but went on to record just three receptions for 33 yards during the 2014 season.

Though he remains a talented physical specimen, and did show flashes of production late in his four-year stint with the Oakland Raiders, Heyward-Bey has yet to live up to expectations as a receiver.

Now 28 years old and heading into his seventh NFL season, the former first-round selection will likely contribute mostly on the Steelers' special teams units going forward.
