Report: Belichick rips NFL for not expanding replay system over cost

With the NFL constantly exploring ways to expand its instant replay system, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has made his case for the addition of four end zone cameras to provide better angles for officials.

League officials appear to have expressed concerns over the cost of such additions to all 32 stadiums, however, leaving Belichick anything but impressed.

Speaking at the annual owners meetings Tuesday, the Patriots' head coach reportedly used profane language in voicing his displeasure with the league's lack of action on the matter, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

As a source told Schefter, Belichick's concerns were sparked by the NFL's willingness to spend top dollar for international games, but its hesitance to do the same in order to improve an obviously flawed replay system.

"It's disappointing every year we can't afford that, as a league," Belichick told reporters. "They brought that up as a concern. It was kind of surprising to hear that."

Belichick's concerns are certainly understandable given the positive impact replay improvements could have on the game.

While the owners meetings wrapped up Wednesday without an announcement on any sort of change, the issue could be tabled when league officials get together again in May.
