Vikings' Mike Zimmer says team has no plans to trade Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson's status remains uncertain several weeks into the 2015 offseason, and it doesn't appear likely he and the Minnesota Vikings will reach a solution any time soon.

Speaking with reporters at the owners meetings Tuesday, head coach Mike Zimmer said he expects Peterson to be back with the team for the 2015 campaign.

"I'm not going to speculate on what he wants or doesn't want," Zimmer said. He's under contract for three more years with us and that's why you sign these contracts, and why you get these big bonuses. We're planning on him being back. We have no plans to trade Adrian."

After missing nearly the entire 2014 season due to off-field issues, Peterson has reportedly been pursuing a trade from the Vikings upon receiving his reinstatement.

The Arizona Cardinals are one of several teams thought to be interested in acquiring the six-time Pro Bowler, but head coach Bruce Arians was careful not to say anything that will earn him a call from the league office.

Though he's now 30 years old, Peterson should remain a highly productive running back no matter where he plays next season.

Peterson has run for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns over the course of his eight-year Vikings career, currently sitting 28th on the NFL's all-time rushing list.
