The Buffalo Bills are up against the salary cap and may have found a creative way to create some space for future seasons.
Buffalo is reportedly looking to extend Matt Cassel's one-year, $4.75-million contract on terms that would make the club more cap-compliant, according to Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News.
Looking for some stability at the team's most important position, the Bills traded for Cassel on March 10, ostensibly to push EJ Manuel for the starting quarterback role.
Cassel started three games for the Minnesota Vikings last season before being supplanted by rookie stalwart Teddy Bridgewater.
