Todd Bowles would give up his left arm for Bruce Arians

It's safe to say New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles is forever grateful for the impact Bruce Arians has had on his coaching career.

Bowles expressed that gratitude in a bizarre way Tuesday at the owner's meetings, telling ESPN's Josh Weinfuss he would sacrifice an appendage for Arians.

"That guy, I can’t say enough about him," Bowles said. "I’d lose my left arm for him."

The first question that comes to mind is, why?

"He kind of groomed me from a young man to a middle-aged man to now an older man as far as seeing me grow," Bowles said. "He helped me be the best at almost everything."

The two go as far back as the early 1980s, when Arians coached Bowles at Temple. More recently, Bowles served as Arians' defensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, from 2013-14.

Bowles may want to consider sending Arians a fruit basket or a nice cheese platter instead.
