Terrell Suggs owes former agent $178,000

Baltimore Ravens star outside linebacker Terrell Suggs owes his former, deceased agent Gary Wichard $178,000 in commissions from his 2013 paychecks, a Virginia court ruled Tuesday

Wichard died from pancreatic cancer in March, 2011. The prominent agent also represented Dwight Freeney, Antonio Cromartie and C.J. Spiller, among others.

Suggs signed a five-year contract that Wichard negotiated, running from 2009-13. The Ravens' linebacker filed a grievance to the NFLPA after the 2013 season over the three percent commission owed to his agent, as stipulated by the contract.

Suggs argued that Wichard, on account of being deceased, wasn't performing any services to earn his commission. However, Suggs hired a new agent, Joel Segal, after Wichard's death, and an arbitrator found Suggs' argument about lacking representation null and void.

"We are pleased that the judge found that the arbitrator rightfully decided the case," Michael Giusto, an attorney acting on behalf of Wichard's estate told ESPN's Darren Rovell.
