Police: No other drugs in NFL player Ahmad Bradshaw's car
CINCINNATI (AP) Ohio state police said Tuesday that crime laboratory tests found no other illegal drugs in the vehicle a veteran professional football player was driving when he was charged with a misdemeanor marijuana possession count.
State Highway Patrol Sgt. Vincent Shirey said a small amount of marijuana has been confirmed in the case involving running back Ahmad Bradshaw. Troopers had sent other unidentified substances taken from the car for testing.
Troopers said Bradshaw was stopped Feb. 5 for following another vehicle too closely on Interstate 70 in western Ohio. Trooper J.A. Barhorst said in a statement that he ''smelled the strong odor of raw marijuana'' coming from inside the Cadillac driven by Bradshaw after he pulled it over.
A pretrial conference is scheduled for April 8 in Eaton municipal court, after an earlier conference was postponed pending the outcome of the lab tests. The marijuana misdemeanor carries fines and costs totaling $270. Bradshaw has pleaded not guilty.
A message left for Bradshaw's attorney, David Williamson, wasn't immediately returned.
The 29-year-old Bradshaw is a free agent who played for the Indianapolis Colts the last two seasons, scoring eight touchdowns with 725 total yards in 10 games in 2014 before suffering a season-ending fractured fibula. He played for two Super Bowl champions as a New York Giant.
