Cowboys executive VP Charlotte Jones Anderson backs signing of Greg Hardy

The Dallas Cowboys have taken their fair share of criticism for signing Greg Hardy, but executive vice president Charlotte Jones Anderson is defending the decision.

Anderson told The Dallas Morning News that she isn't worried Hardy's addition will come back and haunt the Cowboys.

"A lot of people say this is awful, but they don’t know what to do," Anderson said. "That’s why this is such an incredible opportunity. That’s why I’m not afraid of this move."

Hardy's conviction for domestic violence was dismissed when the prosecution couldn't find his accuser to testify, but that hasn't stopped some, like Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, from questioning the move.

Anderson is a member of the NFL's conduct committee and isn't taking the issue lightly.

"I’m a mom. I’ve got a daughter, I’ve got two sons. This is a serious issue for me, personally," she said. "I want my kids to know that domestic violence is not acceptable. But I also want them to know that if they make a mistake, no matter what the issue is, I’m not just going to throw them out. I’ve got to help them come back and make a better choice."

Hardy is a tremendous talent and should be beneficial for Dallas if he stays out of trouble off the field. Anderson is confident he will.

"This is an opportunity to really make a significant impact. This is very powerful and it’s very important, and important for me personally. I think you will look back and you will say this is the right move for the Cowboys."
