Redskins officially re-sign Colt McCoy

The Washington Redskins officially announced the re-signing of quarterback Colt McCoy on Thursday.

The move means the Redskins' quarterback depth chart will look the same as last season. Robert Griffin III is expected to be the Week 1 starter and Kirk Cousins the primary backup.

McCoy started four games for the Redskins in 2014 after Griffin was injured and Cousins was largely ineffective as a starter. McCoy completed more than 71 percent of his passes for 1,057 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He also took 17 sacks.
