Report: Bears re-sign Jimmy Clausen

The Chicago Bears have reportedly re-signed quarterback Jimmy Clausen, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

While Clausen still projects as a depth player for the team going forward, leaving some questions about the starter at the quarterback position, it's an important move for the Bears to make ahead of free agency.

Completing 23 of 39 passes for 181 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, the 27-year-old was fairly productive in his lone start of the 2014 campaign, a Week 16 matchup with the Detroit Lions.

A former second-round selection of the Carolina Panthers, Clausen has carved out a solid career as a backup as he heads into his sixth NFL season.
