Report: Raiders planning to host Ndamukong Suh for free-agent visit next week

In need of significant talent upgrades across the board, the Oakland Raiders could be looking to make a major splash as soon as free agency officially gets underway.

Setting their sights on this year's top available player, the Raiders are currently planning to host defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on a free-agent visit next week, according to Mike Silver of NFL Media.

While planning to host a free agent and being a true contender for his services can often be two very different things, the Raiders certainly have the salary-cap space to compete with the offers from other clubs around the league.

Among the teams reported to be targeting Suh are the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins, while the Detroit Lions reaching a deal to re-sign their dominant defensive tackle remains a possibility as well.

Either way, Oakland's planned meeting with this year's top free-agent player is a positive sign for the franchise's chances. With some strong, young talent already in place, adding a player like Suh would be well worth the cost for a rebuilding Raiders team.
