Eagles release Trent Cole

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The Philadelphia Eagles confirmed multiple reports from Tuesday regarding Trent Cole.

The Eagles officially released the pass rusher Wednesday.

The announcement comes a day after running back LeSean McCoy was reportedly dealt to the Buffalo Bills, as Chip Kelly continues to put his own stamp on the roster.

Kelly, though, indicated Wednesday that they were hoping to get Cole back.

Cole and his 85.5 career sacks should have plenty of suitors on the free-agent market and he has the size to play in both a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme.
