New York Giants linebacker Jon Beason told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday that he's been approached by the team about taking a pay cut and the two sides have gone back and forth on proposals.

Among the proposals brought forth is an option to convert some of the money from Beason's contract into a performance bonus.

Beason, who serves as his own agent, still believes he's a top linebacker and would like the opportunity to earn back some of the money he would be giving up, but said he understands it's part of the business.

Beason was limited to four games last season because of a foot injury suffered during organized team activities. He's scheduled to earn $3.6 million in base salary in 2015, with $900,000 of that amount guaranteed.
