Report: Eagles, Jeremy Maclin aren't close on new contract

It took the Philadelphia Eagles a reported 20 minutes to work out a trade sending LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for Kiko Alonso, but things appear to be moving much slower on the Jeremy Maclin front.

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports thought Maclin would have been re-signed or at least close to a deal with the Eagles by now, but there's still work to be done.

ESPN's Adam Caplan also reports that the two sides are not close on a deal.

The Eagles elected not to use the franchise tag on Maclin, allowing the wide receiver to hit the open market on March 10 if they're unable to sign him to a long-term contract.

Maclin earned $5.25 million in 2014 on a one-year deal. As a free agent, he could fetch a five-year deal in the $8-10 million range per year.
