Report: Murray likely to return to Cowboys in free agency if offer is similar to others

Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray would likely return to Dallas in free agency if the offer he receives is equal or similar financially to those from other teams, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

While recent history suggests otherwise, Murray is reportedly expecting a vigorous market for his services.

Murray made $1.4 million last season as the NFL's leading rusher, which ranked 23rd among running backs. Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings is currently the highest-paid running back in the league at $12.75 million.

Werder reported Monday that the Cowboys plan to make a respectable offer to Murray, but have limited flexibility in trying to re-sign him.

Dallas applied the franchise tag to wide receiver Dez Bryant on Monday, which means Murray will be hitting the open market March 10 absent of a long-term deal with the Cowboys.
