Former Buccaneers GM Dominik compares Ndamukong Suh to Reggie White

Kim Klement / US PRESSWIRE

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik went on Twitter on Monday to compare impending free agent Ndamukong Suh to Hall of Famer Reggie White.

Dominik works as an analyst for ESPN, so he gets paid to say mildly interesting things about NFL players, but this comparison may be an apt one.

Setting aside the obvious character differences, Suh has proven to be a generational talent during his first five years in the league. Behind J.J. Watt, he is the most dominant defensive player in the game, and at 28, he's also three years younger than White was when he signed with the Green Bay Packers in 1993.

White is largely considered one of the best defensive players in the history of the NFL and one of the all-time great free-agent signings, so Suh will probably fall short of the comparison even if he matches the success of his early career somewhere other than Detroit.

During his six seasons with the Packers, White tallied 68.5 sacks.
