Orlovsky signed a one-year deal with the Lions on Monday, the team's official website reports.

Analysis:

Once again forced to make some difficult personnel decisions, the Lions will go cheap at the backup quarterback spot, allowing for spending elsewhere. The team does seem to value Orlovsky to some extent, as it would be even cheaper to go with either Kellen Moore or a late-round pick in the upcoming draft. Still, Orlovsky has never impressed when given the chance, and he's probably one of the lesser backup quarterbacks in the league.
