Report: Buccaneers, Jaguars, Raiders, Redskins expected to target Ndamukong Suh

The Detroit Lions will still hope to sign Ndamukong Suh to a long-term contract despite opting against the franchise tag, but an all-out bidding war could ensue if he reaches the free-agent market on March 10.

Among the many teams certain to be showing interest, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders are all expected to target the perennial All-Pro defensive tackle, according to Dianna Marie Russini of NBC4.

The Washington Redskins are also interested, if the Lions are unable to retain the services of Suh, according to Russini.

While the Jaguars and Raiders targeting the top available free agent was always a likely scenario given the surplus of salary cap space each club has at its disposal, the Buccaneers present an incredibly intriguing option to monitor going forward.

With Gerald McCoy already at one defensive tackle spot, adding Suh would quite easily give the Buccaneers the most dominant interior front in the NFL, and one that could be nearly impossible for opposing offenses to attack.

Of course, a lot can change in the time leading up to and following the official opening of free agency, and a number of other teams are certain to emerge as potential suitors for Suh in the coming days.

Though the Lions should remain a realistic candidate throughout the process, the sheer number of teams that enter the bidding could conceivably put them at a relative disadvantage early on.
