Report: Rugby star Jarryd Hayne to sign futures contract with Lions

Australian rugby star Jarryd Hayne is expected to announce Tuesday that he has signed a futures contract with the Detroit Lions, according to Dean Ritchie and Matt Logue of the Daily Telegraph.
Hayne quit the National Rugby League four months ago and has met with several NFL teams since, including the Lions, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers.
His agent, Jack Bechta, told Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee on Thursday that Hayne would be making a decision early this week.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder will likely play the running back position in the NFL.
