Redskins to release Barry Cofield

The Washington Redskins are parting ways with nose tackle Barry Cofield, his agent announced Friday.
Barry Cofield was informed by the @Redskins that they are terminating his contract. Barry had a great 4 years in Washington.

Cofield missed eight games in 2014 because of a groin injury and high ankle sprain after starting all 48 games during his first three seasons in Washington. The 30-year-old has 310 tackles and 19.5 sacks in 135 career games.
Cutting Cofield saves the Redskins $4.1 million against the salary cap.
