Bears sign Zach Miller to 1-year contract extension

The Chicago Bears have signed tight end Zach Miller to a one-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

Miller spent the 2014 campaign on injured reserve, but strong showings in training camp and the preseason appeared to have him on his way to earning a key depth role on the Bears' offense.

He'll have the opportunity to do the same again this season if healthy, likely projecting as the primary backup to starter Martellus Bennett.

Miller spent the first few seasons of his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, tallying 45 receptions, 470 yards and four touchdowns in 33 appearances.
