AFC West Notebook: Manning could revise contract; council lobbies to keep Chargers

Denver Broncos

Broncos, Manning may restructure contract. The Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning are reportedly speaking about restructuring his contract. Manning is owed $19 million for the next two seasons but has yet to commit to the 2015 campaign.

James Casey to Denver? Denver will reportedly meet with tight end James Casey. It appears that Julius Thomas will not be retained by the Broncos, freeing up a starting role on the team's prolific offense. 

A history of iconic logos. The Denver Post's Nicki Jhabvala examined the history of the Broncos' logos, ranking seven helmet designs (including a few concept helmets) after the Cleveland Browns opted to alter their color scheme. 

Kansas City Chiefs 

Chiefs release Anthony Fasano. The Kansas City Chiefs released tight end Anthony Fasano on Thursday, ending his two-year stint with the club. Fasano recorded 25 catches for 226 yards and four touchdowns last season. 

DeVito may have to take pay cut. Pressed up against the salary cap, the Chiefs have reportedly asked defensive end Mike DeVito to take a pay cut. DeVito would become a free agent if the team opted to release him, and may have a couple of suitors. 

Kelce busts a move at bull-riding event. Travis Kelce is a man of many talents and the Chiefs tight end brought his best dance moves at a Professional Bull Riders event. 

San Diego Chargers 

Johnson announces retirement. Linebacker Jarret Johnson announced his retirement Tuesday after 12 NFL seasons. Johnson recorded 51 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in his final campaign. 

City council rallies to keep team in city. The San Diego City Council lobbied to keep the Chargers in the city, as opposed to a move to Los Angeles. It appeared that the resolution may be a mere gesture of good will, however, and the Los Angeles Times' Tony Perry broke down the ongoing situation.

Bush's homecoming unlikely. San Diego native Reggie Bush was released by the Detroit Lions and may have a number of suitors in free agency. The San Diego Union-Tribune's Tom Krasovic wrote why he would not be a good fit for the Chargers. 

Oakland Raiders 

Raiders will release Branch. The Oakland Raiders will release safety Tyvon Branch after his seven seasons with the club. Branch was selected in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. 

Oakland signs Tavecchio. Oakland signed kicker Giorgio Tavecchio on Tuesday, with the purpose of challenging incumbent Sebastian Janikowski. Tavecchio was part of the Raiders' training camp last season but was released.
