Without one of their key playmakers, the Buffalo Bills' defense excelled in 2014, recording a league-leading 54 sacks.

After missing the entire 2014 campaign due to an ACL tear, star linebacker Kiko Alonso will be ready for training camp.

Alonso was a strong candidate to capture Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2013, amassing 159 tackles, four interceptions and two sacks.

The 24-year-old spoke about his recovery and his expectations for the Bills' defense in 2015 on Thursday.

"I anticipate being 100 percent before camp," Alonso said to John Murphy of BuffaloBills.com "By camp, I definitely feel I'll be at 100 percent. I feel very good with where I'm at. By camp I’ll be full go."

Alonso praised his teammates for a great performance in 2014, while he watched from the sidelines.

"They played great. Top to bottom, the d-line, obviously the d-line is on another level," he said. "Our linebackers and secondary also played extremely well. When you hit on all cylinders like that it’s pretty hard to put up points against a defense."

Frothing with anticipation, Alonso expects the Bills to contend for their first playoff berth since 1999.

"I have very high expectations," the linebacker said. "We have a great defense and a great offense as well. I expect nothing less than to go out there and win a lot of games."
