Dick LeBeau will have input in Titans' pre-draft plans

With 42 years of NFL coaching experience under his belt, Dick LeBeau has a wealth of knowledge to share. The Tennessee Titans, who hired LeBeau as their assistant head coach of defense earlier this month, will be using that knowledge to help them in their pre-draft process.

"He'll definitely have a voice," general manager Ruston Webster told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. "I feel like all of our coaches do, and we'll try and build a consensus and listen to everybody.

"But Dick has such knowledge of this defense and what works. He knows the types of players he's looking for and the kind of guys he's had success with in the past."

LeBeau served as defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1995-96 and again from 2004-14. In those 13 seasons, his defense finished in the top 15 among NFL teams 12 times, including 10 times in the top five and five times at No. 1.

The Titans will need to improve at linebacker if they hope to reach that level of success. While Webster and head coach Ken Whisenhunt will have final say on what they do with the No. 2 overall pick, LeBeau may be able to convince them to use it on a defensive player.
