AFC West Notebook: Chargers, Raiders pursue L.A. stadium; Broncos may tag Thomas

Every Friday, theScore's NFL editors will bring you a roundup of everything you need to know from around the division with the AFC West Notebook.

Denver Broncos

Knighton wants to remain in Denver. Defensive tackle Terrance Knighton will be one of the most sought-after free agents at his position this summer, but made it clear that he wants to be a Denver Bronco in 2015, in an interview with ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Broncos getting ready to tag Thomas. General manager John Elway is bracing for the worst while the club is trying to reach a deal with Demaryius Thomas. If an agreement cannot be reached, the Broncos will franchise tag their star wide receiver.

Elway has tough decisions ahead. Elway is in the unenviable position of trying to bring a number of marquee free agents back to Denver and although he'd like to have them all with the Broncos, it's going to be nearly impossible to do so.

Kansas City Chiefs

Dorsey ensures Houston's return. Justin Houston is the Chiefs' main priority this summer and general manager John Dorsey made it clear that the team isn't going to let its superstar edge rusher leave Kansas City

Avery, Jenkins released. Wide receivers Donnie Avery and A.J. Jenkins were released by the team Tuesday after disappointing seasons. The Chiefs' receivers infamously did not record a touchdown in 2014, the first team since the NFL-AFL merger to do so

Chiefs remain evasive about Bowe. Dwayne Bowe was part of the wide receiver group that struggled immensely and Dorsey wisely deflected questions when asked about his status for next season.

San Diego Chargers

Chargers, Raiders pursue stadium in Los Angeles. The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders are pursuing a new stadium in Carson, Calif. An earlier meeting between the Chargers and San Diego's advisory committee did not go well.

San Diego's mayor lashes out. Mayor Kevin Faulconer is irate about the Chargers' pursuit of a move into the Los Angeles area, saying that the team would "abandon generations of loyal Chargers fans."

Fluker to remain at right tackle. Chargers general manager Tom Telesco raved about D.J. Fluker's ability at right tackle and said he'd be staying there entering the 2015 season.

Oakland Raiders

Quinn endorses Norton Jr. Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. excelled as a linebackers coach for the Seattle Seahawks. Norton's former boss Dan Quinn, now the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons has no doubt that he'll excel with the Raiders.

Raiders could spent lavishly. Oakland is projected to have close to $60 million in salary cap space and general manager Reggie McKenzie made it clear that the team would be chasing after some marquee free agents with the money.

Roach may miss another season. Linebacker Nick Roach missed the entire 2014 season due to complications from a concussion and it may end his career. Roach is reportedly expected to miss another season due to the injury.
