Domestic violence charges against Saints' Junior Galette dismissed

Derick E. Hingle / USA TODAY Sports

The domestic violence charges against New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette were dismissed Thursday, according to Evan Woodbery of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

"This confirms what we have said from the beginning about Junior Galette's actions and character," attorney Ralph Whalen said in a statement.

Galette and his cousin had been booked on charges of domestic violence and simple battery on Jan. 5 after a woman accused him of pushing her to the ground at his home.

The same woman recently filed a civil lawsuit against Galette for sexual assault, and according to attorney Joseph Raspanti, the case won't be affected by the dismissed charges.

For the time being, however, it appears that Galette will avoid both legal and NFL discipline.

The 26-year-old is entering the second season of a four-year, $41.5-million deal he signed with the Saints in September.
