49ers' GM Trent Baalke confirmed that Davis would "absolutely" be back with the team in 2015, CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

Davis is coming off his worst season as a pro (26 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns), and is owed $4.95 million going into the final year of his contract. He dealt with minor injuries throughout the season, but under-performed even when he was back at full strength. Baalke believes that Davis simply had a down year, and he will be able to bounce back next season. The tight end isn't a spring chicken at the age of 31, but the statistical drop-off from 2013 to 2014 came out of nowhere. A weak offensive line is partly to blame, as Davis was asked to block more than usual. Either way, Davis has much to prove from a fantasy perspective in 2015 after last season's dip in production.
