The Kansas City Chiefs are parting ways with wide receiver Donnie Avery after two seasons.

The 30-year-old appeared in six games last season, catching 15 passes for 176 yards. Releasing him will save the Chiefs $3.4 million against the salary cap.

In 77 career games, Avery has caught 218 passes for 2,861 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Kansas City also waived wide receiver A.J. Jenkins. Jenkins failed to make an impact, catching nine passes for 93 yards. The Chiefs acquired Jenkins in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for Jonathan Baldwin, who was waived in August.
