The New York Giants signed CFL offensive lineman Brett Jones, the team announced Wednesday.

Jones spent the past two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. He won the CFL's top rookie award in 2013 and was named the league's best offensive lineman in 2014.

Jones joins a Giants offensive front that struggled throughout the 2014 season. The 23-year-old should have an opportunity to compete for a starting spot at one of the three interior positions.

The Giants will hope that Jones can join a growing list of CFL stars to make the successful transition south of the border and become a productive player at the NFL level.

In another move Wednesday, the Giants officially waived running back David Wilson, who did not play in 2014 and has announced his retirement due to injury. The move clears $1.3 million in cap space.
