Report: Rams likely to fill OC vacancy with internal hire

Casey Sapio / USA TODAY Sports

The St. Louis Rams won't have to venture outside the building to find their next offensive coordinator, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

According to Thomas, it's all but certain the Rams will make an in-house hire for their vacant offensive coordinator position.

Whether doing so is the Rams' first choice remains unclear. After former coordinator Brian Schottenheimer departed for the college game, the Rams have been linked to a number of coordinator candidates around the league. One by one, they've seen those candidates take jobs elsewhere or decline to interview with the Rams.

Thomas identifies Rams tight ends coach Rob Boras and quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti as the most likely candidates for a promotion, noting that Boras likely has the edge.
