Browns' Joe Haden: 'It's time for people to stop bashing Josh Gordon'

Many people felt the reports of another failed drug test for Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon is evidence that he's a lost cause.

Don't tell that to teammate Joe Haden, though.

Haden told Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com on Wednesday that Gordon needs support now more than ever.

"It's time for people to stop bashing Josh Gordon," Haden said. "Before they start talking about him, they've got to figure out what's really going on.''

The Browns corner added that people need to worry less about the football aspect, and more about Gordon the person.

"This is bigger than football now,'' said Haden. "It's just making sure he's okay. We need to have a sit-down and try to figure out what the problem is. Everybody's worried about him playing and being suspended for a year, but I'm over that. I'm worried about figuring out how we can help him and what steps we need to take.''

Haden hopes Gordon understands what he's throwing away and that everything works out for the best.

"When I'm kicking it with Josh, I'm letting him know the opportunities he has,'' said Haden. "He knows how I feel. I'm like 'JG you have so much ability and you can be paid and take care of your family forever.'  He knows this. I just hope everything works out for him.''
