Report: Eagles block 49ers from interviewing Bob Bicknell for OC job

The San Francisco 49ers want to interview Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell for their vacant offensive coordinator job, but the Eagles are having none of it.

The Eagles denied the 49ers permission to conduct an interview, according to ESPN's Phil Sheridan.

Update: Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Bicknell's interview request was denied because Bicknell doesn't want to leave the Eagles

Bicknell has worked under Eagles head coach Chip Kelly for two seasons. He has experience with a few other NFL teams as well as in NFL Europe. It may be that overseas experience that makes Bicknell attractive to new 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula.

As Sheridan notes, the Eagles locking Bicknell from a promotion would run counter to Kelly's previous statements.

"I'm never going to stand in a coach's way when they have an opportunity to kind of get what they consider a better job," Kelly said last year.
