Brent Grimes' wife Miko says NFL has been hypocritical about player, women's safety

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

Brent Grimes' wife Miko has called out the NFL for what she says is a hypocritical stance on player safety, sexual assault and domestic violence.

Grimes was particularly upset that the Miami Dolphins cornerback would surrender his paid appearances at the Pro Bowl for missing Thursday's practice to care for her after she underwent oral surgery.

Her outrage at the NFL's decision spawned a series of tweets Monday in which she criticized several league policies.

Grimes pointed out that the league has emphasized player safety, but gives players only four days rest after implementing one Thursday Night Football game for every team.

Grimes also alleged that she knew women who had been thrown down a flight of stairs while pregnant, but the aggressor only received a one-game suspension from the league. Grimes added that the league only started caring about women's safety after tape emerged of Ray Rice striking his fiancee in a casino in September 2014.

The NFL has not yet commented on Grimes' tweets.
