Report: Rams among teams showing interest in Eagles' Nick Foles

Should the Philadelphia Eagles decide to part ways with Nick Foles this offseason, the St. Louis Rams are among the teams that would have an interest in acquiring the quarterback, Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reports.

Foles was near-perfect in 2013, throwing for 2,891 yards, 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He looked a lot more human in 2014, though, throwing 13 touchdowns and a career-high 10 interceptions in eight games before fracturing his collarbone.

Head coach Chip Kelly expressed support for Foles in December, but refused to commit to the 25-year-old as his starting quarterback for next season. There has also been talk of the Eagles targeting former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota in the draft.

The Rams have a similar situation with Sam Bradford, who's coming off his second torn ACL in as many years. Head coach Jeff Fisher said during his season-ending news conference that there will be competition for the starting quarterback job and that it will ideally include someone not yet on the roster.

Shorr-Parks reports that Foles' name was a topic of conversation among coaches and scouts during the Senior Bowl, with the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans also being mentioned as potential suitors.

"Love him," one NFL coach said of Foles. "Right now I would put him in the second or third tier of quarterbacks, but I think he is right on the cusp of being in the top tier at the position."

Foles, who's under contract through 2015, said in December that neither he nor his agent have heard from the Eagles about a new deal.
