Texans name Brian Gaine director of player personnel

The Houston Texans shuffled their front office Friday in the wake of former director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan's departure to the New York Jets.

The Texans promoted former director of pro scouting Brian Gaine to director of player personnel and moved national scout Jon Carr into Maccagnan's former role, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer. 

The moves were not unexpected, as word of the team's plans leaked to the media last week. 

Gaine joined the Texans a year ago after losing his assistant general manager job with the Miami Dolphins after the team fired general manager Jeff Ireland. His new role with the Texans places him one step below vice president and general manager Rick Smith in the team's organizational chart.
