Browns OC John DeFilippo: 'We're not sure if our QB is in the building or not'

Meeting with local media for the first time Thursday, recently-hired offensive coordinator John DeFilippo was careful not to name Johnny Manziel the Cleveland Browns' quarterback of the future.

DeFilippo said he's looking forward to working with Manziel and will do anything to help him get better, but left open the possibility the Browns' quarterback may not yet be on the roster.

"We're not sure if our quarterback is in the building or not,'' he said, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.

Having served as the Oakland Raiders' quarterbacks coach for the past three seasons, stepping into an offensive coordinator role with the Browns provides DeFilippo the opportunity to call plays at the NFL level for the first time.

"It'll be great. I've done it in college. You're going to get a hard day's work out of me.''

Despite the struggles of the Raiders' offense in recent seasons, the work DeFilippo did with the team's quarterbacks can't be overlooked. Whether it's with Manziel, a free agent or a player selected in the draft, the Browns will hope he can have the same impact on Cleveland.
