Eagles' McCoy doesn't like the idea of trading up for Mariota

Rumors are swirling that the Philadelphia Eagles want to trade up to draft Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota, but LeSean McCoy isn't sold on the idea.

"I'm not sure. Because the thing is, we want to win now," McCoy said on NFL Network Wednesday. "I think we have the right players in the locker room to win. (Mariota is) a good quarterback, but I think we have a good quarterback."

McCoy is referring to Nick Foles, who's quarterbacked the Eagles to a 14-5 record under head coach Chip Kelly. Foles didn't look good at times in 2014, and suffered a broken clavicle in Week 9 forcing him to miss the rest of the season.

McCoy doesn't believe Foles' struggles should force the Eagles into making a franchise-changing trade though, citing past busts as a cautionary tale.

"Some of those other teams like the (Washington) Redskins, they gave up everything to get (quarterback Robert Griffin III). And if things don't work out like you plan, then what? Who is to blame? There are a lot of questions going into those types of situations where you want to give up a whole draft for just one player."

The star running back did admit that Mariota is talented and conceded that the franchise - and specifically his head coach - would put winning ahead of all else.

"Knowing how coach Kelly thinks, he wants to win at all costs," McCoy said. "So, you never know."
