Report: Ravens tipped off Colts on Patriots deflating game balls

Mark Zerof / USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens informed the Indianapolis Colts that the New England Patriots were deflating game balls prior to the AFC Championship, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer

Glazer reported that the league was planning to investigate the balls at halftime, regardless of the Ravens' tip.

Per NFL rules, game balls should be inflated from 12.5 to 13.5 inches.

It was reported earlier Wednesday that the Colts informed the NFL about deflated balls in November.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said the league had contacted the team regarding the level of deflation in the game balls.

"I know the NFL is doing an investigation. They did call some of our people about it," Harbaugh said in a teleconference Wednesday.

"We never had a ball that they ever used or anything like that on offense, so we don't know anything about that in our game. We didn't have a chance to handle any of their offensive footballs."

New England defeated the Ravens and Colts en route to Super Bowl XLIX.
