Dolphins retain Kevin Coyle as DC

Melina Vastola / USA TODAY Sports

Uncertainty surrounded the Miami Dolphins' coaching staff following a disappointing end to the season, but there won't be a change in leadership on the defensive side of the ball.

Kevin Coyle will return for his fourth season as Dolphins defensive coordinator in 2015, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.

Though the defense's stuggles down the stretch were likely among several factors head coach Joe Philbin considered in his staff evaluations, it appears the unit's overall play earned Coyle at least another season at the position.

The Dolphins' defense finished the 2014 campaign ranked 12th in total yards and sixth against the pass.
